Sierra began her teaching journey in 2017 in Hartford, Connecticut. Since then, she has built a thriving teaching studio based in Los Angeles, California, offering private flute and piccolo lessons to students both in person and online. Sierra has held teaching positions with a variety of respected music schools throughout the Los Angeles area and worked extensively with nonprofit organizations such as Harmony Project and HOLA, providing high-quality music education to diverse student populations.
Sierra has taught many students from beginner levels with no prior musical experience, as well as intermediate and advanced players. She specializes in one-on-one private instruction, teaching from her home studio in Los Angeles and through online flute lessons for students nationwide. Sierra is an experienced educator in both private and group lesson settings, working with young beginners, pre-professional musicians, and adult hobbyists.
In addition to classical flute training, Sierra teaches a wide range of musical styles including classical, jazz, pop, and other contemporary genres, allowing students to explore music that aligns with their interests and goals. Her studio offers two recitals per year, providing students with regular performance opportunities, and supports students with audition and competition preparation, including youth orchestra auditions, school programs, college auditions, and other performance-based opportunities. Her teaching approach emphasizes strong fundamentals, musical growth, and personalized instruction tailored to each student’s learning style.
Testimonials:
“My 12 year old daughter has been playing flute with Sierra since she began playing in elementary school, and we are both so happy that she did! Sierra is a master musician who has shaped my daughter’s music interests and ability which continues to grow with Sierra's instruction. Sierra both challenges my daughter with the pieces she chooses and also encourages her as she grows her technique, tone and even her posture. In addition to being highly skilled, Sierra serves as a real role model to my daughter. I would highly recommend Sierra to anyone looking to evolve their flute practice at any level.”

“Both my eight year-old daughter and I (I’m 41) study flute with Sierra. She is a joy to work with. With my daughter, she is patient and fun, and able to keep her on track despite the fact that my daughter gets easily distracted. I am a professional violist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic who decided to learn flute while the orchestra is on hiatus due to covid. I have had many wonderful teachers over a lifetime of music and working with Sierra has been one of my best educational experiences. I have learned to play the flute, but some of her teaching spills over into my viola playing as well. She teaches technicality and musicality in equal measure, which is so important. I highly recommend her!”

“We have two children currently taking lessons with Sierra for piano. We started out in person, and continued with Zoom during Covid. She has been amazing with our children. Our daughter started with her when she was 5, and now at 6 she continues to progress even on Zoom. Our son who was 7, and now 8, goes above and beyond to show Sierra that he's ready for his next song. Sierra is positive and engages children in ways that enhance each lesson. We highly recommend Sierra to anyone who is looking for an instructor either in person or on Zoom.”
